Independence Day Celebration @MIT VGS Kothrud
The theme was based on the forgotten superheroes of India, life stories, and struggles of soldiers, martyrs who lost their lives in wars such as Indo China War of 1962, the India Pak War of 1965, and the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks, etc. The Guest of Honour, Dr. Rohini Patwardhan, Principal of MIT Junior College, hoisted the tricolor followed by the national anthem. Many dignitaries marked the occasion.
The event was celebrated with unprecedented patriotic fervor. The students pledged to be devoted to the nation’s wellbeing, happiness, and prosperity. It was followed by a gamut of cultural activities. The students zealously participated in the activities planned.
Patriotic songs sung by the students invigorated the feelings of pure devotion, loyalty, and respect for the nation. Students paid homage to the legends, martyrs, and freedom fighters through their speeches and poems which inspired and ignited patriotic fervor within. There is no bigger sacrifice known to man than to lay down one’s life in the defence of the nation.
To commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of its people, culture, and achievements, the students gave mesmerizing dance performances with all their energy, passion, and love for the motherland. Dr. Rohini Patwardhan stated in her speech that the children must develop a feeling of belongingness, love, and pride towards their nation and value it highly while wishing for its well-being is the true meaning of patriotism. The program concluded with gaiety all around followed by a vote of thanks. Chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ rang out. A myriad of activities were concluded with gusto and enthusiasm.
