Rakshabandhan Celebration @MIT VGS Kothrud

Raksha Bandhan is a time and one of the most endearing ways to celebrate the bond between brothers and sisters. To strengthen this bond, MAEER’s MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul School, Kothrud, Pune celebrated Raksha Bandhan with zeal on Wednesday, 10th August 2022.

Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the full moon day in the month of Shravan. Raksha Bandhan is a culmination of two words. ‘Raksha’ means providing protection and ‘Bandhan’ means a bond. The words Raksha Bandhan refers to the bond of protection. It is the day when brothers make a promise to their sister to protect them from all troubles that may come their way.

The students came in traditional attire to school. An audio-video was presented on screen for the students to celebrate their bond and love. Rakhi making activities were organized in all the classes. The students decorated their Rakhis and expressed their love for each other. They talked about the sacred bond between a brother and sister. The highlight of the program was the tying of rakhis by our tiny tots to one another.

The main objective behind celebrating the festival was making the children aware about the virtuous bond of love between a brother and sister and also a bond of love between us and nature. The students tied rakhis on trees in an attempt to raise awareness to protect trees with a message of saving the environment. MIT VGS believes that such celebrations of festivals with true spirit teaches the students about our Indian traditions. It was a delightful celebration for students.
