Ashadi Ekadashi Celebration @MITVGS Aurangabad

"The shower brings with it various religious festivals in a row and it begins with Ashadhi Ekadashi."

On Friday, 8th July 2022 the festival of ‘Ashadhi Ekadashi’ was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Pre-Primary students of MAEER’s MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul School Aurangabad in the school premises.

Ashadi Ekadashi is an auspicious day of the God Shri Vitthal celebrated during the months of June and July. All the students were dressed in traditional costumes of little warkaris and carried a Palkhi in a procession all over the school premises. Few girls wore a 9 yard saree and carried a pot of holy basil, tulsi on their heads. The entire MIT VGS campus reverberated with the chanting of ‘Vitthal Vitthal Jai Hari Vitthal’ as the students along with their teachers carried the palkhi.

The grand procession was led by 2 students from nursery class, beautifully dressed as Vitthal-Rukmini respectively. Our little warkaris carried a small attractive Palkhi decorated with flowers and padukas in it. The atmosphere was filled with gaiety and spirituality. This celebration encouraged the students to participate in the rich cultural traditions of our country and know more about their heritage. It was indeed a wonderful day.
