Celebration of Reading Week @ MIT VGS, Kothrud
The habit of reading should be developed in everyone because reading not only increases our knowledge but also makes the individual focused and patient. To promote the love for reading, MAEER’s Vishwashanti Gurukul School, Kothrud celebrated the reading week from 20th to 24th June 2022. The students of grades 1 to 10 had various reading activities planned every day of the week during the circle time. As 19th June was observed as National Reading Day to honour the Father of the Library Movement, the late P. N. Panicker, the students and teachers of MIT VGS joined the rest of the country in celebrating reading week and month.
The motto of National Reading Day is to ‘Read and Grow’. Some students got comfortable in the classroom and enjoyed a good book, while for some, it was D.E.A.R (Drop Everything and Read). Students were taken to different spots in the school campus to read their books besides the classroom, like the lush green lawn and under the mango tree. Some had reading buddies next to them reading and some classes exchanged their favourite book with their peers.
The students and teachers had the pleasure of reading their favourite books during this week. They could gather a lot of insights from their fellow mates and observed this week with a great amount of zeal, new learning, and achievements. They will continue to celebrate reading in the entire month. Stories are an incredibly effective tool for the education of the younger generation. Such reading activities develop the habit of reading for pleasure among all from childhood and inspire more people to write and publish their work.
