English Week Celebration @MITVGS Sangli

English Week is an opportunity for students to show everyone their appreciation and ability at English. In MIT-VGS, Sangli, the English Week was carried out from 13th June to 18th June 2022. The programme was organized by the English Department with the slogan “I Love English”, this programme was aimed to encourage all pupils to use English Language as a medium of interaction with their friends and teachers. Various activities were arranged during the week and opened to all students. The activities were carried out in the stipulated school hours.

The event kicked off on Monday, 13th June, 2022, with the standard assembly to enable pupils to appreciate literature. The first group to start with was Grade 1st and 2nd. Each participant was allowed to recite the poem of their choice with an activity named ‘PROP-A-POEM’ in 1 minute. Most of the students from both the grades have taken part in this competition with great enthusiasm and presented the same with the great energy. The second group for the same day was Grade 5th and 6th, and they were supposed to enact an ‘ADVERTISEMENT’, which was full of creativity, imagination and drama.

The next day of English Week seemed more interesting as the students of Grade 1st and 2nd were given a chance to perform ‘SHOW AND TELL’ activity along with the activities like ‘IMAGINATIVE WRITING’ and ‘TED TALK’ for the grades 4th – 5th and 7th respectively.

The third day was started with the same zeal as some interesting activities like ‘ENACTING A STORY’, ‘IMAGINATIVE WRITING’ and ‘DEBATE’ were awaiting for the pupils of grades 3rd-4th, 7th and 8th respectively in which they have showcased their talent very effectively since they got the right platform to do so.

On 16th of June, ‘NARRATIVE WRITING’ activity was assigned to the students of grades 3rd-4th and 8th respectively to try their hand in the same. Pupils have showcased great talent by using innovative words and correct sentence formation with creativity and imagination. On the same day, Grade 9th has performed a ‘RADIO SHOW’ with the proper planning and great execution which was clearly shown by the content on their faces, whereas grade 8 students tried their hand in the activity named ‘NARRATIVE WRITING’ in which they have stretched their limits of creativity by using appropriate words which left them satisfied with their input.

The last day was totally assigned to Grade 9th since they were supposed to have an ‘IMAGINATIVE WRITING’ activity. Though they seemed a bit confused about the appropriate use of words, they have poured their heart out in their writing.

The week has ended with the satisfaction and contentment in terms of the gained knowledge, self-belief and confidence as the pupils seemed very much happy with their performance throughout the week. The principal, Mrs. Moonika Ratanparaj Ma’am, congratulated the teachers and the committees in charged for putting a lot of time and effort to make this event a truly momentous and successful one with the sincere gratitude to those who have put their heart out into participating in various activities throughout the week. It is hoped that this programme would encourage students to love learning English and ultimately build up their confidence level.
