English Week Celebration @ MIT VGS Kothrud

As the primary language of communication across the globe, proficiency in English is a highly sought-after skill in the international workplace. To promote better learning of the English language and to introduce modern techniques in language teaching and learning, MAEER’s MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul celebrated English Week from 13th June onwards. Reading, writing, and listening speaking aspects of the language were focused through an array of interesting and collaborative activities.

An English fest was celebrated across all the classes from grade 1 to grade 10. This focused on how the language of English is woven into our daily lives and how we can improve our lives with the help of English. The English Week started with a series of extra-curricular activities, planned and organized each day of the week.

The recitation of the poem has its rhythm, music, sounds, and beats. To enhance students’ cognitive and emotional development students in grades 1 and 2 recited wonderful poems based on the theme-Rain. Grades 3 and 4 showcased their communication skills by enacting a story and show and tell activity with great confidence and positivity. Grades 5 and 6 had narrative writing about their favorite cartoon characters, their imaginations unfolded naturally through their amazing stories. Creating an advertisement was another individual activity, the students had various kinds of advertising appeals, and catchy taglines, which could inform, and marvelously persuade. Grade 7 came up with Ted Talk in an innovative way by delivering motivational and success stories of various leaders and how they influenced them. To enhance critical thinking and communication skills, Grade 8 had a debate on whether social media is a boon or bane. Students could synthesize complex information, and present it intellectually. Grade 9 students showcased a Radio Show with information and entertainment through their skills by planning commitment, dedication, and teamwork. Grade 10 students came up with monologues of the famous characters of famous dramas and plays. They demonstrated their ability to perform independently by slating their monologues in front of the class. In addition to all these activities, the students of all grades came up with innovative ideas, and expressed them through imaginative and creative writing.

It was an exhilarating week with lots of fun-filled activities. The week gave a platform for the students to showcase their talents. Participating in various competitions not only increased their knowledge bank but also boosted their self-confidence.
